It started with a Saturday Cheer Clinic where over 50 kids learned cheers from EHS Cheer and Song. The girls then got to perform at the varsity foot ball game. A teal balloon release was also done at the game to honor Shauna. Thank you Esperanza Cheer and Song for your support!

On
February 15, 2010 in memory and honor of Shauna on her "Heavenly
Birthday", family and friends did a mission day at the Mercy
House in Ontario. Shauna loved helping others, especially kids.
The backyard playground was ruined during all the rains we have
had this winter so we helped clean it up and served a BBQ to the
women, men and Children living in this housing unit. The kids loved
playing with us and couldn't wait to play on the playground. God
gave us a sense of peace as we worked together, we could feel Shauna's
presence. Mercy House is a non profit 501(c)3 organization founded
in 1988 by Father Jerome T. Karcher. Mercy House has developed a
Continuum of Care to provide homeless prevention, emergency services,
transitional housing and permanent housing with supportive services
to homeless men, women and children living in Orange County and
the City of Ontario. We ended the evening at "The Garden"
sharing devotions and worship with family and friends. (see

It's hard to
believe Shauna would have been 18 today, October 12, 2009. We
know she is having an amazing time in heaven but we still miss
her. The Westenbroeks made some really good warm soup that we
ate at "The Garden". Chad(Shauna's cousin) opened with
a devotion he wrote shortly after Shauna's death reminding all
of us to live our life for Jesus and be ready because we never
know when its our time. He reminded us of one of Shauna's favorite
verses, 2 Timothy 4:7-8 " I have fought the good fight, I
have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in
store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous
Judge will award to me on that day---not only to me, but also
to all who have longed for his appearing." Doug(Shauna's
uncle) sang "I will rise when you call my name" by Chris
Tomlin.... It was a very special time with family and friends
to remember Shauna and praise God for comforting us and being
with us each and every step. (see
photos)
Chad also wrote
a poem about a year after Shauna died that he shared with all
of us.

to Door of Faith Orphanage in Mexico on February 15, 2009. (photos)
These kids
touched Shauna's heart when she visited in 2005 and we felt blessed
to be able to continue her legacy by giving these kids some love
and spending some special time at the cross where she felt so
close to God. (we saw and felt why)
